Hooke Advisory provides carbon accounting services to companies. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and in the course of our work, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
Who we are
Hooke Advisory is operated by Mehmet Baran Arıcı, based in Istanbul, Türkiye, and is the data controller for the information described here.

Information we collect
Information you give us directly. When you schedule a consultation through our booking page, we receive your name, email address, and anything you choose to write in the booking form. When you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We ask for no more than this.
Information collected during an engagement. When we carry out a carbon accounting engagement, we process operational data provided by the client — energy consumption records, fuel purchases, transport and logistics records, supplier information, and similar. This data is predominantly commercial rather than personal, but it may contain personal information incidentally, such as the name and contact details of employees who supply or approve figures.
Information collected automatically. Our website is hosted on Framer, which processes standard technical data required to serve the site, including IP address, browser type, and pages requested. We use this only to keep the site running and secure.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
To respond to enquiries and arrange consultations — because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, or in our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
To carry out an agreed engagement and produce the resulting calculation and report — because it is necessary for the performance of our contract with the client.
To meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations — because we are required to.
To keep the website functioning and secure — in our legitimate interest in operating a working, secure website.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not use it to build advertising audiences.
Anonymized and aggregated data
We may use data from completed engagements in anonymized and aggregated form — for example, sector benchmarks, emission intensity ranges, or worked methodology examples in our own reports, articles, and training material.
Before any such use, we remove client names and any detail that could identify a company or an individual, and we publish figures only where they are aggregated across enough engagements that no single client's data can be inferred from them. Data anonymized in this way is no longer personal information and is not traceable back to you.
If you would prefer your data excluded from this entirely, tell us and we will exclude it.
Cookies
This website uses only the cookies strictly necessary for the site to function. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not share browsing data with advertising networks.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
We use a small number of service providers who process information on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions:
Framer — website hosting and delivery
Google Workspace — business email, calendar, and document storage
Calendly — consultation scheduling
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so.
International transfers
We are based in Türkiye, and the service providers listed above operate infrastructure in several countries, including the United States. Where personal information relating to individuals in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom is transferred outside those areas, we rely on the safeguards offered by those providers, including the European Commission's standard contractual clauses where applicable.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you get back in touch.
We keep engagement data for as long as necessary to produce and support the resulting carbon footprint calculation, and thereafter for the period required by applicable accounting, tax, and professional record-keeping obligations. Carbon inventories are often revisited or verified in later years, so retaining the underlying data for a defined period is part of doing the work properly. After that, we delete it or remove its link to any identifiable individual.
Your rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, restrict how we use it, object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests, or provide it in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email baran@hookeadvisory.com. We will respond within one month.
If you believe we have handled your information improperly, you may complain to your national data protection authority. If you are in Türkiye, you may contact the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK).
Security
We use reputable providers, enforce multi-factor authentication on the accounts holding client data, and limit access to what is necessary to do the work. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of client operational data seriously — much of it is commercially sensitive regardless of whether it counts as personal data.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and revise the date at the top.
